Guy Bossard and his iconic Domaine de l’ecu hardly needs introduction. Guy has been a pioneering figure in the Muscadet appellation for much of the last 40 years. In the early 1970s, when most winemakers in France were embracing chemical treatments, Guy took an unusual stand to lead the family domaine into organic viticulture. The domaine has been certified organic since 1975. After working closely with Mark Angéli and others biodynamists in the area, Guy then started incorporating biodynamic practices and earned Demeter certification in 1998.
Domaine de l’écu endures and expands its role as a leader, among a handful of domaines in the appellation, rooted in the conviction that wines of distinction and class can be produced where there is respect for the land and recognition of its unique terroirs.
